In honor of Valentine's Day, I've created a sexy bedroom design that is also soothing and timeless. I love the pairing of black, gold, gray, cream, green & pink you see in this bedroom design. A quick trick to create that "hotel" feeling in your own home is to keep your bed linens neutral (preferably cream or white). White linens are not only easier to keep clean (bleach is your friend), but they create sharp visual lines in any bedroom design. I love to bring color into these rooms with artwork, pillows & accessories. With neutral items, you can add excitement by adding in texture of the same color. One of my favorite ways to add this texture is by adding in a rich looking faux fur throw that is so luxurious, yet cozy & neutral. This room is fantastic because it pairs traditional and modern elements together to create a dynamic look that will transitionl easily over the years, and the large abstract art piece is a dynamic bridge element that truly pulls the entire room together. Follow me on Facebook at PaperCanvasEtc, where I post links to all my new blog posts. I also provide interior design consultations and art sourcing for clients in the Burke, Springfield and Fairfax area of Northern Virginia, as well as offer e-design services for those not living in the area.
