I love to give old lamps a makeover! I just recently posted a Friday Flip, where I gave an old lamp some shabby chic styling. Today's makeover has a completely different look about it! I had the lamp seen above for quite a few years, and it was still in pretty good shape. I no longer have burgundy accents in my decor, so I knew it was time to either get rid of this lamp or redo it - as I'm always trying to save money with my home decor, I opted for the redo. I found this adorable drum shade on clearance for $8 at Target. I sprayed the base of the lamp with metallic silver spray paint and then distressed the finish with paint thinner to give it a more worn look as I didn't want the lamp to be too glossy or new looking. Overall, I'm pretty pleased with how it turned out and I've extended the life of my decor item for another few years. I also try to apply this process of extending the life of home decor items by re-designing them to my clients, as well.
