To continue my obsession with rescuing sad home decor objects & furniture and fostering them in my home until I make them pretty again, this week I bring you a redesigned lamp with a shabby chic look! I picked up this precious wood lamp at a thrift store. I removed the shade and quickly got to refinishing it in a distressed light gray paint (and by quickly- I mean 1 month later!). I was just going to chunk the lampshade & replace it with one of my favorite drum shades, but upon further inspection I realized that the shade was quite vintage and made completely of very strong steel. The old plastic was cut away from the frame and tossed. I had some cream colored fabric, which I cut into strips and simply tied the strips to the metal frame of the shade. The whole project turned out quite cute! Its definitely not a look for every space, but will fit quite nicely in my client's shabby chic home interior!
