I've recently set up a proper art studio inside my home and was in need of an art cart to hold my paints, brushes & other painting supplies close to me while I paint. I found this old beat up typewriter stand at a thrift store close by me & knew that it would be the perfect fit for the job! The castors were even in great shape, too. I started by cleaning the piece thoroughly and then spraying on a metal primer paint. I then spray painted the entire thing with black paint. The old top was removed as it was split down the middle and a new wood top was screwed on. The new wood top was simply a glued pine panel that can be found at any big box hardware store cut to size. I had a wooden wine box floating around that was being unused, so I secured it to the bottom metal piece of the cart with bolts, washers & nuts after pre-drilling several holes. The box on the bottom will allow for even more storage capabilities! I attached 2 hooks on each side to hold my towels, as well. Overall, you could say I'm pretty stoked about how the whole thing came out, and this sweet little piece has already been working fabulously in my studio space.
