Whether you love it or hate, the layered white look for interiors is here to stay. As an artist, I love the trend because nothing makes your artwork pop quite like sleek white walls. However many homeowners are at a loss as to how to achieve this look without it looking too boring. I suggest choosing a white color that is not a true bright white, but a warm creamy white. I also love the play of silver and chrome elements with white color palettes as it gives a very modern feel to the space. Black metals accents pair nicely with more traditional interiors and elements. In white spaces, its important to layer your space with various textures and this can be implemented by adding in various white shades through textiles like pillows & drapes or even bedding. Don't be afraid to use white furniture in white rooms as it really gives a calming effect to the space as a whole. Infusion of color can be added through artwork and a well placed pillow or accent piece. I source most of my artwork for clients through ETSY and local artisan co-ops, if possible. I rarely specify my own artwork for clients since I feel like that is a conflict of interest unless they have commissioned a piece from me. I've said this before, but a space will tell you what it needs. Take your time and enjoy the design process!
