Today, I have an easy way to update your old paintings and pictures you may have lying around the house. I'm all about using what I already have to revamp the rooms in my house. This is a quick & fairly painless process to change the way your existing artwork looks in a cool, modern way.
I had this old painting that I picked up a few years back at a home decor store. It's not even a real painting, but a print printed on canvas, as most stores sell. I liked the picture in my last house, & it really matched our living room, but it just didn't go with our new decor. I also didn't like how lonely the picture made me feel with its sad trees..... I taped off the framework with painter's tape and painted primer over the existing picture. Once that had dried a few days, I printed out a quote that I love from F. Scott Fitzgerald (my all-time favorite author) from the computer and transferred the words to my newly primed canvas. Once I had the outline of the letters applied to my canvas, I filled them in with a black archival ink pen (found in any art store). I then applied a quick spray of archival varnish to the entire quote to keep it from smudging. I really love the way this process updated my artwork in a way that is going to look amazing in my bedroom redo. I love adding quotes from literature & authors around my home. Try this easy DIY and see for yourself how easy it is to transform something you could potentially throw away into something you love. If you are fresh out of old pictures, thrift stores & yard sales are also great places to source pictures for a project like this, too!
