I'm always looking for neat ways to decorate my home for the holidays that are; 1. easy & 2. inexpensive. Today, I'm going to show you how to create a beautiful centerpiece for your holiday table using things you may have hanging around the house. You'll need a few things:
1. A cute wood toolbox (or other rectangular container)
2. Plastic container
3. Green Floral Foam
4. Wire Edge Ribbon
5. Ornaments & Other Accents (we used the sprayed leaves - you can find a tutorial here)
6. Greenery (leftovers from your tree - or found in your backyard)
Grab your toolbox and place the plastic container in the bottom. This will protect the wood from the water. Wet your floral foam and place it in the plastic container in the bottom of the toolbox. Start adding your greenery into the floral foam being careful to not tear the foam up too much. You may need to cut some of your branches down to a reasonable size. I always ask to keep my cuttings from my Christmas Tree for this very purpose (I did pay for it after all!). After you've created a full spray of greenery in the toolbox, you can now add in the ornaments to fill in any empty spaces. I also like to add in some ornaments & natural elements like painted leaves (find the tutorial here) to add another layer of visual texture. When your satisfied with the overall size and aesthetic of your piece, you can tie your ribbon to the handle to finish off the centerpiece. I prefer to use wire edge ribbon because its easier to make bows with. You now have a beautiful centerpiece that didn't cost an arm & a leg and that also didn't take all day to complete! With fresh greenery, occasionally check your foam every few days to make sure it hasn't dried out and you may even want to spray the piece with a light spritz of water every few days to keep your centerpiece looking fresh.
