“So we beat on, boats against the current, borne back ceaselessly into the past,"
-Line from "The Great Gatsby" by F. Scott Fitzgerald
This is one of my favorite quotes from my all-time favorite book, "The Great Gatsby." Pretty much all of my favorite literary quotes come from F. Scott Fitzgerald's writing. Its hard to say why a piece of literature can speak to your innermost being and really take hold of you. This is how "The Great Gatsby" is for me. In my torn, weathered copy, the entire book is highlighted with passages that I hold dear to my heart. That's what makes classical literature great, right? That supernatural ability to span time and ever changing styles to speak to an entirely new generation of readers is what makes classical literature inherently what it is - timeless. As I've said before, literature is a huge inspiration to me and Fitzgerald's works do not disappoint!
F. Scott Fitzgerald is the next author in my Classic Dead Author House Treasury Collection. I hope you, the reader, are enjoying these curations half as much as I am making them. Fitzgerald's house, I believe, would have an air of distinction paired with art deco elements that intertwine with natural leathers and hints of metallic colors. I adore the 1920 and 1930 styles in interior design. Art deco, as a style, was so brazen and bold for its time with sharp distinct lines, metallic accents and brooding feminine elements. I feel it kind of slaps people in the face and proclaims, "I'M HERE!!!" Please enjoy & check out the treasury at F. Scott Fitzgerald's House & while you're there, please see what PaperCanvasEtc has to offer, too, as we add new things each & every week! Happy Designing!
